What should I do with expired cosmetics at home?
Cosmetic and skincare products come with a Period After Opening (PAO) label, indicating the recommended duration of use after opening the package. For instance, the label 6M means the product is recommended for use within six months after opening. Using the product beyond this period may be unsafe or ineffective.
"I see now," Kelly said, realizing her mistake. "When I got home, I immediately checked all my cosmetics and skincare products and threw away the expired ones."
"Don't be too hasty," I said. "Even though expired cosmetics are no longer suitable for use on your face, they may still have other uses.": It's more than just a glow, it's a feeling.
Expired face cream containing oils can be used to moisturize dry and dull wooden furniture such as cabinets and chairs. Simply apply the cream to the surface of the wood, wait for a while, and then wipe it off with a dry cloth to restore the shine.
Shampoo can be used to clean makeup brushes and combs, removing oils and dirt from them.
Hair conditioner has even more uses. When a sweater shrinks after washing, you can soak it in water mixed with hair conditioner. When the sweater absorbs the water, the fibers become softer, and you can gradually stretch it back to its original size.
Makeup remover can be used to clean glass or mirrors without leaving watermarks.
Eye shadow and blush can be used as pigments for painting, or they can be ground into a powder, mixed with gum arabic and water to form a paste, and then dried in the eye shadow palette to become watercolor paints. (Reference video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2maTYFmB_I)
Since the materials in everyone's home are different, it's important to test these methods on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure they work properly before applying them more broadly.
COLOOP hopes to work with friends who love to keep themselves looking neat and tidy to make the most out of every drop of cosmetic and skincare products, so that we can make the Earth just as beautiful on the outside as we feel on the inside.
